“We have supported Rob since his first election and he has delivered. Rob is always there for us. We know that he will continue to be a champion for unions everywhere and support the hard-working men and women of IBEW,” IBEW Local 164 Business Manager Daniel Gumble said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to offer our endorsement for Congressman Rob Menendez’s re-election efforts and look forward to partnering with his campaign team so that we can return him to Washington in November.”

IBEW Local 164 represents more than 2,000 electricians in Bergen, Hudson, and Essex counties on residential, commercial, and industrial projects, and more than 700 telecommunications workers contracted throughout the state.

Local 164 members have provided electrical and telecom installations, repairs, and maintenance on some of New Jersey’s most significant projects.

These have included the Gateway Tunnel, the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland tunnels, and Portal Bridge; Meadowlands Sports Complex; mega-shopping centers such as American Dream Mall, the Garden State Plaza and Newport Mall; The Prudential Center, Red Bull Stadium, Newark Bears Stadium; among many others.

“Every day, IBEW uplifts thousands of working families by ensuring fair compensation and safe conditions for their members, and by investing in the next generation,” Menendez added.

“I am proud to be endorsed by the hard-working members of IBEW Local 64. We have built our campaign based on support from organized labor, affirming the work that we have done in Washington – supporting pivotal legislation like the Working Families Task Force Act and the PRO Act, and delivering billions in federal funding for our district. We fight every day for working families and for our brothers and sisters in labor. With their support, we will win re-election so that we can continue the good fight together.”

The primary is on June 4th, where Menendez faces a spirited challenge from Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, with first time candidate Kyle Jasey also on the ballot.
