To support the agency’s creation and function of a new center home, Lord Abbett has pledged to contribute $700,000 over the next three years.

“Our team at Hudson Pride is extremely excited to announce the opening of our brand-new center home in the Journal Square area of Jersey City and to one day all be together again safely,” HPC Executive Director Elizabeth Schedl said in a statement.

“With the significant financial support from Lord Abbett, we can secure our center’s future while growing our services to meet the continuing needs of our LGBTQ+ community. This partnership is a momentous step for our center and for the years to come.”

Hudson Pride Center has served the LGBTQ+ community in Jersey City and Hudson County for over 25 years.

In early 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, HPC decided to relocate out of their offices at CarePoint Health’s Christ Hospital and transition all services to remote and virtual.

For the time being, they will continue to use digital platforms of communication to provide all of their services.

“We value all individuals as an organization that is committed to ensuring a sustainable future for our clients, our people, and our world,” added Lord Abbett Managing Partner Doug Sieg.

“With this in mind, we’re proud to help fund the building of the new Hudson Pride Center, which aligns with the steps that earned us top marks in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2021 Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.”

In addition to the financial contribution, Lord Abbett will work with Hudson Pride Center on future joint programming partnerships that continue to support the LGBTQ+ community members of Jersey City and throughout all of Hudson County.

HPC declined to name the exact location of their new center at this time.
