Trustee Denise D’Alessandro, the acting board secretary, made the motion to name Dr. Timothy Frederiks the acting superintendent between May 14th and July 14th of this year, which was seconded by Trustee Sarah Almeida.

The board voted unanimously (8-0) to approve the measure and did not discuss any of the details related to Sirangelo’s exit during public session. The meeting was less than 20 minutes, with the majority of that time spent in closed session – about 15 minutes.

While technically retired from full-time work in 2014, Frederiks told HCV that this is the 13th interim or acting superintendent gig he has taken since then.

He is also currently the interim superintendent of the Hope Township Public Schools and the interim dean of the School of Education and Humanities at Centenary University, according to a copy of his extensive resume.

Sirangelo took over as the county vocational school system’s top ranking administrator after Amy Lin-Rodriguez was suspended due to suspended Board Secretary Joey Muniz’s lawsuit in December alleging an 18-year affair, among other things, which is still pending.

The following month, the board voted not to renew Lin-Rodriguez’s contract before posting the superintendent’s job in March, both as HCV first reported.

The board is still scheduled to meet at their main campus in Secaucus on Thursday at 4 p.m., where they are expected to vote on their next superintendent.

The Hudson County Interim Executive County Superintendent Melissa Pierce deferred comment to the New Jersey Department of Education, who did not immediately respond to an inquiry seeking comment.
