“The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is responding to a multi-alarm fire in Union City. Please avoid the area of Bergenline Avenue and 10th Street,” the county prosecutor’s office wrote.

Their announcement comes as first responders across the county tend to a five-alarm fire at 61st Street and Bergenline Avenue in West New York that the arson unit is also looking into.

North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue is receiving assistance at both scenes from the likes of the Bayonne and Hoboken Fire Departments, officials wrote on social media.

“The @HobokenFire Dept has multiple companies under the command of Interin BC Markey, providing mutual aid, assisting North Hudson Regional Fire with a 6 alarm fire on 63rd & Bergenline in WNY & a 5 alarm fire in @OfficialUCNJ on 10th & Bergenline,” Hoboken Public Safety Director Kenneth Ferrante tweeted.

“Prayers go out to all the families affected by these fire as well as all of our Bravest who are fighting these fires and working to save and protect lives.”

NHRFR spokesman Nick Bond said that 60 people from 17 different families were displaced and damaged five attached buildings. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
