“I can confirm a car fire broke out on the Viaduct just before 4:30 yesterday. Hoboken Fire [Department] responded and quickly put it out. The road was shut temporarily, with Hoboken and Union City PD assisting with traffic control,” said Hoboken public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin.

The Hoboken Fire Department’s Ladder 1, Engine 1, Rescue 1, and Engine 3 were on scene and extinguished the fire underΒ  the command of Battalion Chief Lou Moyeno.

Additionally, no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Rubin added.

The Hoboken Police Department tweeted the viaduct was fully reopened to traffic around 5:26 p.m.
