The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a dead body discovered on the Newark Bay shoreline in Bayonne on Friday, authorities said.

On Friday, January 27th, the Bayonne Police Department received a report of a possible body on the shoreline of Newark Bay in the area of the Thomas W. Zito Bayside Apartments in Bayonne, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
The Bayonne Police and Fire Departments arrived on the scene and confirmed the lifeless body of a man had been recovered behind the building in the area of 249 Avenue A. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:02 p.m.
The man has not yet been identified. The cause and manner of death of are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are actively investigating this case.
