Karol Mejia, 22, of Guttenberg, was found dead in her room at the Super 8 Motel in Carlstadt on Tuesday, February 28th at about 5:10 a.m. and the incident “does not appear to involve foul play,” Musella said in a statement yesterday.

The Carlstadt Police Department responded to the motel, located at 395 Washington Ave., after receiving a 911 call and used a master key card to enter the room where they found her deceased.

The Daily Voice reported that “concerns were raised after a companion she’d reportedly been with was nowhere to be found,” citing a law enforcement source familiar with the matter who spoke under the condition of anonymity.

According to her obituary,  she was born in Isla de Margarita, Venezuela to her mother Andrea Mejia, who she is survived by along with her grandmother, Fanny Grajales, and her brother, Andres Moubayad.
