Jersey City Ward F Councilman Frank “Educational” Gilmore is re-upping his endorsement of Ward E Councilman James Solomon for mayor, while backing Tina Nalls, Mamta Singh, and Michael Griffin for city council at-large in the non-partisan December 2nd runoff races.

“These candidates share the same values that drive our work in Ward F—accountability, accessibility, and action for the people,” Gilmore said in a statement.
“They believe in affordable housing, youth opportunity, community-based public safety, and infrastructure improvements that benefit every resident, not just a few. I’m proud to stand with them as we keep building a better Jersey City together.”
Gilmore and Solomon traded endorsements back in April, as HCV first reported, and the downtown councilman was the top vote getter earlier this month.
He will face runner-up Jim McGreevey in the non-partisan December 2nd runoff.
All of Solomon’s at-large running mates, Singh, Griffin, and former Council President Rolando Lavarro came out on top in the 15-person contest, while Nalls, an aide to Gilmore, finishing fourth as part of Mussab Ali’s ticket.
Councilman-at-Large Danny Rivera, who ran with Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), and Meredith Burns, who was on McGreevey’s slate, round out the candidates who made the runoff.
Rivera has since forged an alliance with McGreevey, though O’Dea still supports him. The veteran county official also backed Singh and Rivera, as HCV first reported.
As for Gilmore, he easily won re-election in a three-person race where he secured over 55 percent of the vote and he is hoping his supporters come out to vote again next week even with him not being on the ballot.
“Ward F showed that when we organize around hope instead of fear, we win. Now, it’s time to carry that same energy into the runoff and elect leadership that reflects the heart of this city,” he concluded.
