Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, state Senator Brian Stack (D-33), and Hudson County Executive Craig Guy are hosting a fundraiser for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee next month, committing to raising over $100,000.

The event, hosted at the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten in Jersey City on October 12th at 6 p.m., will have Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19) and Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe as their special guests.

“We hear all the rumors around the state from naysayers that would like to see Hudson County be fractured, but the truth is that we have never been more united and this will continue to become more and more apparent as we approach this important election and the next legislative session,” Stack, also the Union City mayor, said in a statement.

“On October 12 Steve, Craig, Barbara [Stamato] and I are going to do the work needed to make sure that the state legislature stays in Democratic hands.”

Fulop, currently the only declared candidate for governor, would benefit greatly from getting the line of the Middlesex County Democrats in June 2025, though it will certainly be one of the most sought after countywide endorsements in the statewide primary.

Two other potential gubernatorial candidates, U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) and Mikie Sherrill (D-11) held a fundraiser for the same committee back in June and July, respectively.

Coughlin has also been floated as a possibility – where he would be all but assured the line in his home county.

“Senator Stack, Craig Guy and I have developed a very close relationship over the last couple of years and our goal is to make sure Hudson County’s voice is unified in supporting Democrats statewide. I want to thank Speaker Coughlin and Chairman McCabe for their friendship and all the work they are doing to move our state forward,” Fulop added.

“ … I’m ecstatic to be co-hosting this event and I believe it will be a tremendous success as well as more proof that Hudson County is ready to once again be one of the most significant players in state politics,” noted Guy.

As for Stamato, she is not only the chair of the Jersey City Democratic Committee, she is also the Democratic nominee for state Assembly in the 31st Legislative District.

“The Jersey City Democratic Committee is excited to host this event on October 12th and to support our colleagues running in competitive races throughout the state,” she said.

“Hudson County will do our part in making sure that Speaker Coughlin and Senate President Scutari have the support they need to continue moving New Jersey forward.”
