Yesterday at approximately 3:13 p.m., Bayonne police officers conducted a motor vehicle
stop near the intersection of 33rd Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The vehicle stopped was a 2019 black Rambler truck, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

When approaching the vehicle, officers immediately detected a strong odor of raw
marijuana. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Britt, 31, who resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered less than 50 grams of marijuana. Britt was placed under arrest without further incident, official said.

Britt was charged with possession of marijuana (50 grams or less), as well as motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and obstructing passage of other motor vehicles.

He was processed and released on a summons, police said.

Back in 2011, Britt had some run ins with the law while back in New Jersey, getting arrested after a high-speed car chase in Bayonne and also accused of resisting arrest in Hoboken.

Britt is Rutgers football’s all-time leading receiver, amassing 3,043 yards between 2006 and 2008.

He played in the NFL between 2009 and 2017, with his best statistical year coming in 2016 when he played for the Los Angeles Rams, recording 68 catches for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games.
