Former Hudson County surrogate and longtime counsel for the North Bergen Board of Education counsel Joseph Ryglicki passed away yesterday after a long bout with cancer.

” … Joe was a consummate public servant who played a major role in the growth of our school district during his time there. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues,” state Senator (D-32)/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco wrote on Facebook.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 31st from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Vainieri Funeral Home, located at 5923 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen and more information can be found here in the coming days.
Ryglicki served as the county surrogate for one, five-year term between 2014 and 2019, replacing Donald W. De Leo.
He was succeeded by then-Freeholder Tilo Rivas, who had the blessing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
