Hoboken 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, a mayoral candidate, is backing Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District, which includes Hoboken and Ward C, D, an E in Jersey City.

By John Heinis/Hudson County View
“There are several good assembly candidates, and I will be voting for Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca. What I like about both is that—like me—they’re not running to be something, they’re running to do something. Jennie is Hoboken’s library director and someone I’ve come to really respect,” Fisher said in an email blast on Monday.
“She understands the day-to-day challenges we face here and wants to bring that experience—especially in education and community advocacy—to work on issues like affordability, fair school funding, and public transportation. And Crystal brings decades of experience in local government and public service … and she’s a grounded, no-nonsense advocate for working families and underrepresented communities.”
Her candidates of choice are not particularly shocking given her icy political relationship with Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, who has Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez and Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, and outgoing Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.
He is running alongside Jersey City activist Katie Brennan in the LD-32 Assembly race rather than seeking a third term.
Fisher is the first Hoboken mayoral candidate to endorse in the six-person June 10th primary, though is unlikely to be the last with 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo, 4th Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos, and Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour also running.
Council President Jim Doyle and 5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen, the vice president of the governing body, have already endorsed Bhalla and Brennan, as HCV first reported.
The Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), who are backing Pu and Fonseca, have not endorsed yet in the Mile Square City’s mayoral race and are unlikely to do so until after the primary.
Conservative NIMBY do-nothings like Fisher are the reason why people no longer trust the Democratic party.
Fonseca is a carpetbagging nepobaby.
Can’t wait to see Fisher lose in November.
The same unhinged hate for Councilwoman Tiffany Fisher.
She being in the race must be worrying the heck out someone with major insecurity issues.
She declared late, raised next to nothing, and will split the conservative vote with Russo. So thanks for helping to clear the way for Jabbour to win!
Thanks for proving my point.
Ravi’s dirty crew has been crying about Fisher for years and they’ve gone all out to see her defeated in the council elections but she keeps beating them.
Hopefully, she will make good campaign choices to win the mayor’s race and clean up City Hall. It’s a sewer.
The truth is that Tiffanie will come in 4th place and will win few votes south of 11th street or west of Washington Street. Her NJ Election Commission report is pathetic. She loaned herself $30k and raised $21k mostly from a handful of uptown donors within the exact coordinates named above, demonstrating again that she’s not a city-wide candidate This is just not a viable candidacy. The $30k she loaned herself is not coming back. She should just DIY the campaign because her consultants she has or will hire are just making money off this vanity run.
She will come in 4th, but how did she get here? She has spent 8 years punching down online, punching sideways, and up. It’s all online for all to see. She’s a fountain of negative campaigning. Not even one fellow Council Member will endorse her which says it all. The best she can do is endorse other people, namely the appointees (Fonseca and Pu) of a weak sauce Hudson County Democratic Committee that is irrelevant in Hoboken where their preferred candidates for Mayor have lost for 16 yrs running. Last year the Hudson County Democratic Organization folks lost Hoboken handily and they lost their home turf of Jersey City. Craig Guy, the head of the party, could not even win his own home district last year in Jersey City. And yet, she’s in bed with these people who both have lost downtown JC and Hoboken, and whose leadership has a very checkered past (look up “stalking” “Burglarly” and “Raj Mukherji”). My sense is that Fisher is angling to replace Romano as the Hudson County Dem Org candidate of choice for county commissioner, but really? Never going to happen. She should drop out and recover her reputation.
If she goes through with running through November and not finding a face-saving way to drop out, coming in 4th just **may*** be humbling (or make her more crazy, coin flip there). Of course the net of running through November will more of the same, Teardown Tiffanie will tear down Russo, perhaps a bit of Ramos and Jabbour, but not building herself up or really find votes in the process of just tearing down. Maybe a net positive in the end if your point of view is that it would help to have the real extent her East of Washington and North of 11th actual influence be exposed for how small it really is. Dumb plitical move to run for Mayor. She’s opened up herself to showing all how little support she has. .
Boy, you guys always have so much to say about Councilwoman Fisher and really don’t want her to be in the mayor’s race. She only started. Talk about negative campaigning. You didn’t earn your campaign paycheck with this screed.
She’s the most competent person in the race with the best record and experience to serve as mayor both on and off the City Council. That’s the simple truth.
Delusional
What a dumb move… Supporting that CORRUPT Organization that supported Big Daddy Bob Menendez and all the corrupt developers like Joe Barry…
What a dumb ass move this early!
HCDO Bosses Craig Guy is behind Jabbour….his partner in “crime” Stack is with Russo
There’s no way, Ironstate, Toll Brothers, Advance, LeFrak and the billionaire developers backing Fonseca and Pu will allow reciprocal support for the Debbie Downer of Parks and Affordable Housing Development
If it were up to her, she defund Hoboken High, the Housing Authority and eliminate parking
She was also involved in that awful Hospital which went bankrupt after she was on the board
Proving the spoiler theory that Tiff is trying to cause a runoff then support Emily in the runoff… She won’t support Russo or Ramos…. something about ” adding a lil color on things ” as she like too say, but in the last one’s case perhaps “too much color ” for her to bear
If true that Hudson County JC machine is backing Jabbour, it would put a major dent in her reform credentials in Hoboken where Bhalla won both Hoboken and JC last year.
Craig Guy lost his own home district in during last year’s primary election… The County bosses have lost Hoboken and downtown JC consistently for 16+ years now. Jabbour could be foolish is get too cute here and abandon her base to dance with this unsavory crew. These guys —- it’s all guys —- tax Hoboken and then exclude Hoboken from all party machinery and institutions. Would watch out for Ruben. He’s running a clear message campaign. May be enough to slide into runoff. Will be a Ruben, Russo, Jabbour show to get into runoff. Jabbour just needs no unforced errors. Aligning with county or being ambiguous would be an unforced error. Leaders lead and make choices. She should stick to her Bhalla base which is larger city-wide than Ruben’s and Russo’s. Fisher again is wasting time, just a spoiler.
I supposed you are impressing all the inside baseball political hacks who live in their political hack bubble, but the average Hoboken voter is COMPLETELY oblivious to all of the HudCo machinations that you believe are so important. Seriously, dude, go for a walk outside. None of that influences the average voter.
“None of that influences the average voter”
Yet the average Democratic voter in Hoboken and JC votes against the HCDO by a 2-1.
Do you forget to breathe if you’re actively thinking about it?
You’re taking a voting result and retrofitting it into a preferred hypothesis. Maybe that’s the way Hoboken residents vote, but it’s not THE REASON WHY they vote that way. If you lived in Hoboken and talked to people outside the political hack bubble, you’d actually understand that, by and large, the average voters here have NO IDEA the HCDO even exists or what it does, never mind what it stands for.
Seriously, you’re so up your own you-know-what that you can’t see the daylight, LOL.
This slate STINKS
If elections can be bought, Russo or Dini win. As some have mentioned, Russo has a most colorful past but many who would know about it are dead or have moved on. He’s a talented politician with great personal charm, so will appear to run a positive campaign, but in the shadows will run dirty tricks on his opponents. Old Hoboken style.
Fisher has burned too many bridges on and offline, proving herself temperamentally unsuited for the job.
Ramos is the least interesting candidate. He’s been around forever but still widely unknown. His claim to fame might be that his old time Hoboken BFFs are Chris Campos (convicted felon) & Carmelo Garcia (indicted for bribery).
Jabbour is the sentimental favorite as both activist Moms Demand Action leader, public school supporter & parent activist, and the most accessible and helpful Councilperson dating back from her beginnings in local politics. In the most populated Hoboken FB groups (thousands), Jabbour is invoked constantly to help with various problems around town- and she follows up with each. However, it’s unclear whether she can surmount Russo’s giant warchest and vigorous GOTV operation, but even her detractors privately admit she is beloved in the Mile Square.
You must be new to her campaign. Emily is certainly beloved in the Big Developer, socialist circles. She stood by and was elevated by corruptocrat Ravi which says all you need to actually know about her “service” as a rubber stamp for both developers and terrible Hoboken government. Ravi’s raided the treasury and set up Hoboken for financial disaster. Thanks, Emily.
Have never seen anyone so disdainful of citizens and her council colleagues other than her side piece, Russo.
“big developer, socialist circles?”
She advocated hard against the referendum that would have gutted rent control, which was supported by Big Developer Ron Simoncini.
Socialists are literally diametrically opposed to big capitalist developers. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it socialist.
Get a grip.
