ELEC: McGreevey has $626k haul for Jersey City mayoral run in Q1, $1.9M COH

Former Gov. Jim McGreevey had a $626,481.68 haul for his Jersey City mayoral run in the first quarter of 2025, with $1,930,519.55 cash on hand, according to his most recent campaign finance reports.

In his personal account, McGreevey raised $199,219.62, spent $334,330.09, and has $986,381.36 cash on hand, according to his April 16th New Jersey Election Law Enforcement (NJ ELEC) report.

Three Washington, D.C.-based PACs, New Jersey for Our Future, New Jersey for All, and New Jersey Together donated $17,300, $9,300, and $8,300, respectively, while Livingston-based Spinello Companies gave $11,100.

Jersey City’s Ziggy’s Auto Sales wrote a check for $11,000 and West New York Mayor Albio Sires’ team account contributed $10,000.

Edison-based Federal Business Centers Inc. wrote a check for $7,500, James Cecchi, of the Roseland law firm Carmella Byrne, donated $5,500, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19) contributed $3,900, and Florio Kenny Reval LLP senior partner Ed Florio gave $3,500.

Mana Miami Management contributed $5,000, as did CME Associations President/CEO David Samuel, former Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, whose daughter is running on McGreevey’s ticket, donated $4,500, and Secaucus-based Hartz Mountain Industries chipped in $4,000.

On the expenditure side, West New York’s Royal Printing received $150,000, New York-based McLaughlin and Associates was paid $50,000, Ray Ferraioli’s H&P Consulting got $21,000, David Cruz’s JEM JC Consulting netted $6,000 a month ($18,000 total).

Additionally, Jersey City’s Larissa Szilagyi was compensated $10,800 and McGreevey also paid $25,000 and rent and utilities for his campaign office.

Additionally, the Team McGreevey account raised $427,262.06, spent $6,000, and has $944,138.19 cash on hand, according to their April 16th ELEC report.

The Greater NJ Carpenters PEC contributed $103,800, the New Jersey State Laborers got involved at $70,000, the Kearny-based Hugo Nu Corporation wrote a check for $33,000, and David McPherson, of Waters McPherson McNeill, P.C., gave $17,100.

Atucope the Voice of Transit Workers union donated $35,000, Eric Bernstein, of Eric M. Bernstein and Associates LLC, gave $19,100, Eastern Millwork President Andrew Campbell wrote a check for $22,500 (the business itself gave an additional $5,000), and Union City Board of Education employee Helen Brzozowski contributed $12,000.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chair Kevin O’Toole wrote a check for $28,000, his law partner Thomas Scrivo donated the same, former Gov. Dick Codey gave $10,000 from his campaign account, as did former New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer.

Furthermore, Paul Weiner, founder of the Weiner Law Group, donated $20,000, and the team’s only expense was $6,000 towards the Pompton Lakes-based Taxed for Time for legal and accounting services.

McGreevey is in a five-person contest in the non-partisan November 4th Jersey City mayoral race.

The other declared candidates are Ward E Councilman James Solomon, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), Council President Joyce Watterman, and former Board of Education President Mussab Ali.
