Former Jersey City Board of Education President Mussab Ali raised $60,040 in Quarter 3 in his pursuit of the mayor’s seat, with $206,056.03 cash on hand, his October 15th report filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC) shows.

The vast majority of his donations were $1,000 or less, with his brother Russab, one of the few exceptions, contributing $5,200, author Warren Grover gave $5,000, and Waseem Boraie, of Boraie Development LLC, wrote a check for $2,000.
In the three-month time frame between July 1st and September 30th, Ali’s burn rate was nearly as high as his fundraising, spending a total of $57,419.38, his ELEC report details.
Washington, D.C.-based 4431 Consulting was paid $13,185.44, Momentum Campaigns, also a DC operation, was paid $10,000 for their fundraising efforts, and MKM Strategies, of Brooklyn, also received $1,000 for fundraising consulting.
Furthermore, Salman Capital Management received $11,400 for rent at his campaign office in Journal Square and Ali has loaned his campaign $16,500.92.
He is currently in a field of five in the non-partisan November 4th, 2025 race to succeed Mayor Steven Fulop, who is running for governor instead of seeking a fourth term.
Joining him thus far are former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Ward E Councilman James Solomon, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), and Council President Joyce Watterman.
