“Each and every day, these members of Congress fight for working families and democracy down in Washington DC,” CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor said in a statement.

“They have a strong record, and we’re proud to continue supporting them in these all-important mid-term elections. We are also proud to support Rob Menendez to join their ranks.”

The CWA (AFL-CIO) represents both private sector and public workers, as well as more than 70,000 working families in New Jersey, including over 40,000 state workers, 15,000 county and municipal workers, and thousands of workers in the telecommunications, airlines, healthcare and direct care industries.

“Whether it’s ensuring our government agencies are well-functioning or providing care to our most vulnerable citizens, communities across New Jersey depend on the vital work of CWA member. I’m proud of my 100% rating on CWA’s Congressional Scorecard, and I will continue to fight for the working families of New Jersey,” Payne said in a statement.

“I am thankful and humbled to have the support of the hard-working men and women of the Communications Workers of America. CWA has been a stalwart advocate for working families, fighting for living wages and good benefits, and I look forward to championing our shared agenda and priorities in Congress,” Menendez, Jr. told HCV.

The CWA also backed U.S. Reps. Donald Norcross (D-1), Andy Kim (D-3), Tom Malinowski (D-6), Mikie Sherrill (D-11), and Bonnie Watson Coleman, with the only Democratic incumbent left out being U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5).

“New Jersey is fortunate to have an impressive delegation of men and women who stand with working families and stand up for our union’s values,” added CWA NJ State Director Fran Ehret.

“We enthusiastically back these pro-union candidates to continue their mission. And we are excited to endorse a newcomer – in Rob Menendez – in this important fight for our state, our nation and the values that matter to our members and their families.”
