On October 27th at 8:47 p.m., in furtherance of an investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division in relation to an incident from June 15th, Miller said in a statement.

According to Miler, Luis Abreau, 32, of Bronx, New York called a Secaucus resident and identified as a Jersey City police officer and alleged the victim had engaged in criminal activity and requested money to handle the matter.

As a result, the victim allegedly transferred money to him.  Abreu was charged with theft by extortion and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

He was arrested at Secaucus Police Headquarters, located at 1203 Paterson Plank Road, issued a complaint summons, and released from custody, authorities said.
