Bayonne to hold 2nd annual tribute to slain Jersey City Police Det. Joseph Seals

The City of Bayonne is set to hold their 2nd annual tribute to slain Jersey City Police Det. Joseph Seals, a Peninsula City native who was killed during a domestic terrorism incident on December 10th, 2019.

The event will take place at DiDomenico 16th Street Park on Saturday, September 17th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The event will feature bands, food trucks, and other forms of entertainment.

“I urge everyone to come out for this event to pay tribute to Detective Seals and to support Garden State Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). Detective Seals gave his life after eighteen years of outstanding service in law enforcement,” Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain, said in a statement.

Let us honor him as a community on September 17.”

GSCOPS assists police families that have lost a family member in a line of duty death. T-shirts will be offered for sale to benefit the organization and local sponsors have also made donations to support the event.

The park located between Avenue A and Newark Bay, with the entrance at West 16th Street and A.

At their tribute to Seals last year, they dedicated a memorial bench and renamed a street in his honor.
