“Today on February 2nd, not one, but four homes were destroyed due to an unexpected fire. In my instance, both my sister Jeannet Rivera and her husband, Victor Trinidad were misfortunate in being one of the effected victims of this fire — losing everything they owned and more,” Jhonnatan Rivera wrote in the description of his GoFundMe page.

“Living here less than a year, they put all their efforts and future together to suddenly lose it all in a matter of seconds. As her younger brother, seeing the pain they’re surpassing is unbearable and if I was able to replace all they both have worked for I’d try my best.”

The campaign was started yesterday and set a goal of $10,000. As of 11:35 a.m., they have raised $1,271 for the cause.

Yesterday around noon, a five-alarm fire broke out at 84 Andrew St. The firefighters needed several hours to extinguish the flames and the roofs of three buildings collapsed as a result of the damage.

The blaze left 23 people displaced and two people suffered minor injuries.
