The Hudson County Democratic Organization held a press conference at the Brennan Court House in Jersey City to announce their picks to run on the line for the state Assembly, as well as for Hudson County Executive.

The who’s who of the HCDO came out to show their support at the event, with mayors, councilmen and councilwomen, freeholders and state senators, among others, all making appearances before Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop introduced the most obvious pick of the day: County Executive Tom DeGise.

DeGise currently does not have a challenger for the June 2 Democratic primary election, and based on the overwhelming support he’s received from the party, it seems unlikely that he will see one.

State Senators Sandra Cunningham (D-31), Nick Sacco (D-32) and Brian Stack (D-33) then introduced the Assembly picks for their respective districts, where three of the five seats up for grabs will look to be filled by fresh faces.

Afterwards, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, also the chairman of the party, answered a question from Hudson County View regarding how each Assembly candidate was selected by the HCDO.

The candidates that will run on the HCDO line are as follows:

Hudson County Executive: Tom DeGise

District 31: Denise Ridley and Nicholas Chiaravalloti

District 32: Vincent Prieto and Angelica Jimenez

District 33: Raj Mukherji and Annette Chaparro
