Jayson R. Ruiz, 51, of Bayonne, was charged with five counts of burglary, three counts of theft, four counts of criminal mischief, dealing in stolen property, possession of an imitation firearm, and certain persons not to possess a weapon, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Yesterday at about 9:45 a.m., Ruiz was taken into custody from his residence as a result of investigations positively identifying him as the actor in four burglary and theft incidents last month.

On October 7th at approximately at 9:57 a.m., a victim reported that his vehicle’s side window had been broken and an unknown individual had entered it and removed approximately $5,000 worth of tools while it was parked in the area of West 56th Street and Avenue C.

Similarly, two days later at roughly 6:20 p.m., a victim reported that his vehicle’s side window had been broken and an unknown individual had entered it and removed approximately $1,500 worth of uninstalled audio equipment while it was parked in the area of West 56th Street and JFK Boulevard.

Then on October 12th around 4:18 a.m., a victim reported that his vehicle’s side window had been broken and an unknown individual had entered it and removed a toolbox valued at approximately $200 while the vehicle was parked in the area of West 33rd Street.

On the same day in the area of West 33rd Street, another victim reported that his vehicle’s side window had been broken and an unknown individual had entered it and removed approximately $3,000 worth of tools while it was parked.

On October 29th at about 8:39 a.m., a victim reported that his vehicle’s side window had been broken and an unknown individual had entered it and removed approximately $5,000 worth of tools while it was parked in the area of 31st Street and Broadway.

The Bayonne Police Detective Bureau conducted a thorough and detailed investigation into the incidents and were able to positively identify Ruiz as the actor of all the reported incidents and take him into custody yesterday.

During the arrest, Ruiz was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm while classified as a certain person not to possess a weapon.

The investigation also revealed that Ruiz had been privately selling the stolen proceeds.

In addition to the burglary, theft, and criminal mischief charges for the reported incidents, Ruiz was charged with offenses related to the imitation firearm and the dealing of stolen property, police said.
