Authorities seeking driver involved in Jersey City hit-and-run that killed 55-year-old man

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are seeking the driver involved in a local hit-and-run that killed a 55-year-old man.

At approximately 12:31 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Stegman Avenue and Garfield Avenue.

Responding officers located a victim, later identified as a Ralph Haynes, 55, of Jersey City, with life-threatening injuries and the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:38 p.m.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
