Authorities investigating Jersey City Heights hit-and-run that badly injured pedestrian

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a Heights hit-and-run that badly injured a pedestrian last night.

At approximately 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck at the Griffith Street and Sherman Avenue intersection, County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers found a 36-year-old Jersey City man with serious injuries. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case and no arrests have been made at this time.
