At approximately 11 a.m. on November 14th, the Union City PD was notified of an unresponsive male behind a building on 23rd Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers located a lifeless man – later identified as Reynaldo Gonzalez, 56 – and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, November 26th, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be complications of blunt force injuries and the manner to be homicide.

Following the medical examiner’s report, the HCPO Homicide Unit formally assumed control of the investigation, which is active and ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HCPO at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/.
