Zitt replaces Efrain Velez, who resigned on Friday, December 4th. Velez was the chair of the Department of Public Works upon his departure but it was not immediately clear is Zitt would take on that role as well.

This isn’t the first time Jimenez’s right hand man has gotten sworn into office: Cosmo Cirillo, 28, was sworn in as West New York’s youngest commissioner back in February. He replaced Ruben Vargas, who now works for the town’s parking and housing authorities.

Velez was first sworn in on January 1, 2014 and did not provide a public reason as to why he decided to step down from the board.

Also worth noting is that given Guttenberg’s small size, being only about eight blocks long, council members are not designated to respective wards.
