“I am going to continue to do what I’ve been doing for the past five years: that’s helping as many people as I can with the help of the community,” McKnight told Hudson County View over the phone, confirming fresh rumors that she will be the HCDO’s Jersey City Assembly candidate for the 31st District.

AngelaCares, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was incorporated on October 20, 2011, that is committed to creating a support system for senior citizens.

Based out of Jersey City, the organization also has a chapter out of Las Vegas, Nevada, according to their website.

Jersey City businessman Bruce Alston was under consideration to replace Ridley, but was ultimately not deemed a suitable replacement, sources said.

“I need to push forward with this movement I started to unite this community. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the assembly race in this district, I will not be running on the [HCDO] line,” Alston said, a few minutes ago after not returning multiple phone calls yesterday.

He declined to answer questions on whether or not he was actually offered the line by the HCDO.

Alston announced Bayonne firefighter Pat O’Brien as his running mate last week, before he backed out a day later and endorsed the HCDO’s Bayonne candidate: Nicholas Chiaravalloti.

McKnight will run opposite Chiaravalloti and a formal announcement is expected from the HCDO in the next couple days.
