“Frank Schillari has proven time and again that he is a dedicated leader with a clear vision for the safety and security of Hudson County,” Hudson County Building Trades Council President Pat Kelleher said in a statement.

“Sheriff Schillari’s dedication to ensuring that Hudson County communities are protected and his clear record of supporting union labor are just a few of the reasons we stand with him. We’re proud to endorse him for a resounding sixth term.”

First elected in November 2010, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office has expanded public safety initiatives, enhanced officer training, and improved outreach efforts during his tenure, Schillari’s campaign asserted.

“It is an honor to have the support of the hardworking men and women of the Hudson County Building Trades Council. They build it fast, they build it right and they build it safe,” Schillari added.

“Without labor the country doesn’t move and together, we have and will continue to work to make Hudson County a safer place for all. I look forward to continuing this mission with my brothers and sisters in organized labor by my side.”

The Hudson County Building Trades Council, representing a coalition of over 20 local trade unions, plays a vital role in the development of the region’s workforce and infrastructure.

Schillari announced in May that he would be seeking a sixth term, as HCV first reported, and he will also be a part of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s ticket as he seeks the Democratic nomination for governor in the June 3rd, 2025 primary.

Since state Senator (D-33)/Union City Mayor Brian Stack and Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, also the chair of the county Democrats, have already backed U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) for governor, it is possible they run someone against Schillari.

A popular name to challenge him is Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain, thought he is yet to publicly acknowledge any interest in doing so.

According to Schillari’s August 9th report filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, he has $112,700.90 cash on hand.
