With New York and New Jersey residents remaining vigilant, law enforcement officials have ruled everything safe in regards to a suspicious package at the Port Imperial Ferry Station in Weehawken, Township Public Safety Director Jeff Welz confirmed.

The Jersey City Bomb Squad, which responded to a “suspicious vehicle with wires protruding” in Secaucus earlier today, assisted the Weehawken police early this afternoon after receiving a call about a suspicious package, Welz confirmed.
“Some of New York waterways bus drivers stated that they used a homemade stool while waiting to be picked up under a shade tree. It was a piece of Styrofoam with two boards, with duct tape used to hold it together,” Welz said, noting that the incident was called in around 11:28 a.m. this morning.
Welz said a dog with the U.S. Air Marshals, who was doing security at the ferry terminal, indicated there may be a bomb near the tree where the chair was being stored, but luckily, it turned out to be nothing.
Late this morning, Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, of Linden, was arrested after a shootout with police in the city streets (h/t The New York Times).
Hours prior, Rahami was named as a suspect in the explosion that took place in New York City on Saturday night, later linked to bombs found in Seaside Park on Saturday morning and Elizabeth this morning, respectively.
