This afternoon, the Jersey City Fire Department observed a working fire within 290 Webster Ave., which is a three-unit, three-story building, said city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

The fire was contained to the third floor apartment with extensive damage to the rear of the third floor, with six adults being relocated by the American Red Cross.

One adult woman who lives in the basement apartment received treatment for non-life threatening injuries at the scene before being transported to the Jersey City Medical Center for evaluation.

No other injuries to occupants or firefighters have been reported, Wallace-Scalcione said, adding that multiple animals were safely removed from the building, including two cats that were removed and revived by firefighters.
