A “small plane crash” in Bayonne has shut down Avenue E between 41st and 42nd Streets, the local office of emergency management announced.

“ATTENTION There has been a small plane crash on Ave E between 41st and 42nd St. PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA!,” the Bayonne OEM tweeted this morning.

Authorities have confirmed that the pilot, the only passenger in the plane, has been extricated from the wreckage and he has suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Furthermore, according to PSE&G, the damage the crash caused to power lines has left 1,379 customers without power. The restoration process is expected to be quick, with power expected to return as soon as 12:15 p.m.
