“All I can say is: leaks are in violation of the law,” Menendez POLITICO. “And I hope there is an investigation as to however, whomever is conducting such leaks.”

Shortly after CNN reported on Friday that an indictment would be coming against Menendez for allegedly accepting gifts from Melgen in the form of free airplane trips to Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen’s mansion in the Dominican Republic, as well as for allegedly helping Melgen resolve business interests.

POLITO also reported that Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and then-Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius met with Justice Department lawyers and FBI agents over a year ago to discuss a August 2012 meeting with Menendez regarding a multi-million dollar federal billing dispute with Melgen’s company.

Menendez has already stated that he currently has no plans of stepping down.
