A 61-year-old Jersey City pedestrian died from injuries sustained in a crash in Greenville on Sunday, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Mallory and Communipaw Avenues, Mello said in a statement.
Responding officers located a victim – later identified as Luis Caisaguano, 61, of Jersey City – with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday, December 17th.
This matter remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
Authorities previously said that the striking vehicle remained at the scene after the incident occurred.
