Police: Bayonne man caught with weed after getting beat up by 2 men

Luis Rivera, 34, of Bayonne, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession with intent to distribute, possession, possession within 1,000 feet of a school and possession within 500 feet of a park, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

Around 2:03 p.m. yesterday, Rivera reported being assaulted by two men in the area of West 9th Street, one of which was in possession of a handgun, officials said.

After authorities investigated the scene, it was determined that drug distribution had take place and Zymire Gordon, 19, and Marquis Rivera, 21, were arrested.

Gordon was charged with robbery, conspiracy, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, while Marquis Rivera was only charged with conspiracy, police said.

Luis Rivera was treated for minor injures at the Bayonne Medical Center, officials said.

It was not immediately clear what relation, if any, he had with Marquis Rivera, but the two do not reside at the same address.
