“I’m proud to endorse Assemblyman William Sampson for re-election. William has been a strong voice for the people of Bayonne, Kearny, and Jersey City — providing tax relief for homeowners and renters, funding our public schools, reducing crime, and supporting small businesses,” Murphy said in a statement.

“And, throughout it all, he has never forgotten his roots as a son of Bayonne. We need fighters like William in office to keep building a stronger and fairer New Jersey for every family.”

They are facing off with Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato and Bayonne 2nd Ward Councilwoman Jackie Weimmer, who are both a part of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate.

“I’m excited to endorse my friend and Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker for election to the New Jersey Assembly,” the governor continued.

“From his time at St. Anthony High School to his leadership of the non-profit organization Team Walker, Jerry has a long track record of serving his community, including establishing a brand new vocational school in Jersey City. I’m looking forward to Jerry continuing his advocacy for the people of Jersey City, Bayonne, and Kearny in Trenton.”

Murphy endorsed Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez and Larry Wainstein in the 33rd Legislative District in mid-May, followed by Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis for sheriff last week, both as HCV first reported.

In those races, Fulop is backing Tony Hector and Frank Alonso, as well as Sheriff Frank Schillari, who is seeking a sixth term.
