Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis has secured the support of Gov. Phil Murphy in his bid for Hudson County sheriff, citing his resume as a police officer and then as an elected official.

“I’m thrilled to endorse Jimmy Davis as Hudson County sheriff. Born and raised in Bayonne, Jimmy rose through the ranks of law enforcement as a Bayonne Police Officer and a member of the Homicide Division and Special Crimes Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office,” Murphy said in a statement.
“As Mayor of Bayonne, he has successfully brought down crime while addressing long standing fiscal challenges. I know he’ll be an effective sheriff focused on keeping Hudson County residents safe.”
Murphy has already endorsed two other candidates backed by the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO) running in the June 10th primary.
In the 33rd Legislative District, he is supporting Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez and Larry Wainstein, who are running for the two Assembly seats against Tony Hector and Frank Alonso, as HCV first reported.
Davis is looking to unseat Sheriff Frank Schillari, who is running on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate, as are Hector and Alonso.
The Peninsula City mayor also has the backing of Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo, Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones, and Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo in terms of elected leaders from outside the county.

Time for schillaries flunkies to put in their retirement papers. It was a good run,
now pack your bags.
It’s really interesting to see the HCDO be so enthusiastic for sex pest Jimmy Davis.
Everyone has flunkies, Webster, Cassidy, Perez, Schillari…. it is what it is, but you’re right, they had a good run
Davis is a bully and a thug, not to mention the inappropriate sexual lawsuits brought against him.
As far as the lawsuits, were they substantiated? I no longer live in the county, so haven’t heard a thing. And as far as the Sheriff flunkies, it happens in every agency, so I’m sure he will have flunkies too, it is what it is.
How much does a flunky make annually? Can I apply?
