With 16 candidates vying for just four seats, a split ticket seemed probable, but the Children First team – consisting of BOE President Steven Rodas, board trustee Adam Parkinson, Dennise Mejia and Damarys Gonzalez – managed to pull off a clean sweep.

With 96.55% of the vote in, which excludes provisional ballots, the slate all broke 800 votes a piece and were at least 250 votes ahead of the next closest vote getter. Parkinson earned a two-year term on the board, while every other winner will serve three-year terms.

A brief victory rally was held at Mayor Felix Roque’s “Together We Can” campaign headquarters, located near 53rd St. and Palisade Ave., where Hudson County View briefly spoke with Rodas.
