On Monday at approximately 10:15 p.m., three Jersey City police officers – a lieutenant and two police officers — assigned to the housing unit were on patrol in the area of the Arlington Gardens Housing Complex, Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

During their patrol, an incident occurred which resulted in all three police officers discharging their weapons. Preliminary indications suggest that fireworks were being shot in the area of this incident.

The circumstances surrounding the officer involved shooting remain under active investigation.

Two individuals, a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old male, were transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they received treatment for non-life threatening injuries sustained during this incident.

The New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice was immediately notified of the incident. Pursuant to Attorney General guidelines, the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor has taken over the investigation from the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Shooting Response Team is in the early stages of the investigation.

Pix 11 reports that the 19-year-old victim is Shyquan Blade and the 21-year-old victim is Davonte Moore, who plays football at the Iowa Western Community College.
