“Thanks to the men & women of @HobokenFire Dept for the fast work in knocking down this morning’s fire at 4th & Washington St,” Ferrante tweeted minutes ago.

“Chief Peskens reports no injuries to any civilians or first responders at this time. He credits his team under BCs Turner & Carter for the terrific work.”

A Nixle alert went out at 8:38 a.m. asking residents to avoid Washington Street between 3rd and 5th Streets.

“Washington Street is closed to vehicular traffic between Third Street and Fifth Street. Buses will be running on a diverted route north on Bloomfield Street between Observer and 11th Street and south on Hudson Street between 11th Street and Observer Highway,” the alert says.

The Hoboken Police Department just tweeted that first responders are still on the scene and the area remains closed to vehicular traffic.
