“The city needs people that are gonna fight for this 31st District,” Smith said at a brief press conference this morning.

“The 31st District has some of the most … some of the worst social problems, that have never been dealt with, and Bruce and Washington have a clear understanding of what needs to be done. Not just here (Jersey City), but in Bayonne.”

Smith added that it is important that voters of the 31st District do not vote for a “puppet” to represent them.

Speaking one-on-one with Hudson County View, Flores said Smith’s endorsement brings added “credibility” to their campaign, with Alston stated that the endorsement gives “an added boost to our campaign.”

Smith’s endorsement of Flores and Alston comes days after U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8) endorsed the Hudson County Democratic Organization’s picks for the same Assembly race: Angela McKnight and Nicholas Chiaravalloti (h/t Politicker NJ).
