Authorities are probing the third homicide in Jersey City since Saturday, with this incident occurring in the same area as the prior fatal shooting.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and JCPD are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning just before 1 am on Grant Avenue and MLK Drive in Jersey City in which one woman was killed. More info to follow,” the HCPO tweeted early this morning.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday morning, Raquan Bass, 26, was fatally shot in the area of 94 Grant Ave.

While no further information regarding Tuesday’s murder was immediately available, sources told HCV that the two incidents are believed to be connected.

At 10:06 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information.

This morning just prior to 1 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Grant Avenue and MLK Drive.

Responding officers found a 30-year-old victim – later identified as Felicia Stewart – who
had sustained gunshot wound(s) to her back and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 2:02 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.

Also on Saturday, the HCPO arrested a 55-year-old man for stabbing someone to death in the Jersey City Heights.
