A woman was arrested in Bayonne for punching another woman and later hitting her car with a baseball bat after the situation escalated, police said.

Denita Taylor-Figueroa, 46, of Jersey City, was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.
Taylor-Figueroa was taken into custody at approximately 11:44 p.m. from the area of 1st Street and Lexington Avenue. Officers responded to the area on a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, they observed two women arguing in the street. The on-scene investigation revealed that Taylor-Figueroa and the 48-year-old victim became involved in an altercation where Taylor-Figueroa punched her in the head.
As the victim retreated to her vehicle, Taylor-Figueroa entered the vehicle and continued to attack the victim. She then exited the victim’s vehicle and armed herself with a baseball bat, which she utilized to damage the victim’s vehicle.
The motive for the assault is unknown, authorities said.
