With U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executing raids elsewhere in Hudson County, Jersey City Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh has put up a resolution backing local immigrants.

“As the first generation son of immigrants born and raised in the Jersey City Heights, I sponsored this legislation in collaboration with the JC Immigrant Affairs Committee because Jersey City has some of the most households with immigrant family members, in the entire country,” he told HCV.
“Supporting the Immigrant Trust Act [in Trenton] will ensure immigrants continue to access necessary services – whether it is at a hospital, library, school, or simply calling their local police for emergency services. This resolution is a clarion call to equip and protect our communities with knowledge of their Constitutional rights, as well as protect their information from being misused by local, county, and state government, and allay the fears of the most vulnerable in the community.”
The local legislation also urges the city to promote their Division of Immigrant Affairs, particularly their legal services, hosting “Know Your Rights” workshops.
One of Saleh’s opponents, Hudson County Democratic Socialists of America member Jake Ephros, along with Ward B council candidate Joel Brooks, called for no ICE raids within city limits and to reiterate their status as a sanctuary city, as HCV first reported.
While ICE has not performed any targeted enforcement actions in Jersey City yet, they have done so in Newark, West New York, and Union City.
The Jersey City Council just convened for their caucus at 4 p.m., which is streaming live on Microsoft Teams, with their regular meeting set for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 280 Grove St.
Should send them to Martha’s Vineyard and other leftist strongholds. I know. The leftists who live in these places will have them removed within a day of their arrival like they did the last time this was tried.

When you had in the past and ongoing Europeans who came to Palestine and taking lands and homes it called illegal, but when illegal aliens from around the world come to the USA it is not considered illegal to the Democratic Party. The Jersey City Democratic Party and Hudson County Democrats believe in Open Border and Letting Everyone in the World to come illegally. It doesn’t matter how many people get murdered, robbed, beaten, lit on fire on a NYC subway train, beaten, and other crimes. The Democratic Party wants American Citizens and the taxpayers to keep quiet and keep footing the bill for illegal aliens and to accept crimes as acceptable so that all world people are happy. As a Minority Black Woman, I reject the Democratic Party and won’t be voting for none of them and will tell others to do the same. Blacks are tired of this lawlessness by Democrats in Jersey City and elsewhere who use the Blacks and Minorities for votes and dump them without improving their lives. Democrats believe that illegals need to be in living in the USA and it’s okay to be illegally and letting legal American citizens to foot the bill. I won’t be voting Democrat.

While Democrats outnumber Republicans something like 7-to-1 in Hudson, did you know Kamala BARELY beat Trump in Bayonne, Secaucus and North Bergen? Even in Union City Trump got 42%. Trump won Kearny and (yeah it’s Bergen) Fairview! Unless these were all new Republicans, these are Democratic voters.
The first Democrat (or Republican) to stand up for citizens is going to win.

My parents are immigrants and came to the US legally like so many others who waited in line and went through the application process. These Dems use the word “immigrants” combining illegal alien gangbangers with legal applicants. As if!
Eric, not sure if you read in the HCV article below, in the ninth paragraph. They want illegals to be able to vote as well. So yes, they are putting illegals first over law-abiding, tax paying Americans.

Didn’t your family go thru the legal process to become US citizens? So most of the illegals are criminals and they have free housing, free Healthcare, free money. Meanwhile my black & ppl of color who are indigenous to this land that was stolen, who have been enslaved & killed, been given no reparations, forced to pay taxes, forced into poverty, are more homeless than ever b4 can’t get a dime or anything.
