Union City Police Chief Nichelle Luster retiring Monday after 28 years of service

Union City Police Chief Nichelle Luster is retiring Monday after 28 years of service, the department announced on Facebook this morning.

“Last tour of duty for Chief Nichelle D. Luster today! She will officially retire from the UCPD on August 1, 2022 after 28 years of service to the City of Union City,” the UCPD wrote.

“Congratulations Chief N. Luster. Thank you for your service! We wish you all the best in retirement!”

Luster, the department’s first female chief, was promoted in December 2018. She is also a U.S. Army veteran and a former city EMS volunteer.

Capt. Anthony Facchini will serve as acting chief following her retirement.
