U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez (D-8) says I have “unwavering confidence in my father” after he was indicted this morning, claiming supports outweigh the naysayers.

“I have unwavering confidence in my father and his dedication to the New Jerseyans who he has relentlessly fought for in his long career as a public servant. I strongly believe in his integrity and his values, and look forward to seeing him move past this distraction to continue fighting for our state in the United States Senate,” the congressman said in a statement.

“And it must also be said that in my life, I have seen countless detractors who refuse to believe a son of immigrants from Hudson County could rise to be one of one hundred and yet he’s constantly proven them wrong. And thankfully those who know him and what he has stood for his entire career outnumber the naysayers.”

The three count indictment charges Senator Menendez and his wife with conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit extortion under color and official right.

They are accused of having a “corrupt relationship” with New Jersey businessmen Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes. They are charged with the first two counts.

” … [The Menendezes] agreed to and did accept hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes in exchange for using Menendez’s power and influence as a Senator to seek to protect and enrich Hana, Uribe, and Daibes and to benefit the Arab Republic of Egypt,” the indictment says.

“Those bribes included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value.”

Overall, the indictment charges that the Menendezes accepted corrupt payments for their mortgage, a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300, $486,471 in cash, another $79,760 from the safe deposit box, two one-kilogram gold bars, and 11 one-ounce gold bars.

Expectedly, Republican U.S. Senate challenger Christine Serrano Glassner is blistering “Gold Bar Bob” Menendez over the indictment, claiming she is running to “fight against this culture of corruption” embodied by the incumbent in New Jersey.

Additionally, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damien Williams said at a press conference this morning that the corruption probe into U.S. Senator Bob Menendez “is very much ongoing.”

Rob Menendez was elected to represent the 8th District in Congress by an overwhelming margin in November 2022 and theoretically could run again next June with he and his dad on the ballot at the same time.

  1. He’ll have his day in court. That said, and leaving aside all the money, gold and other valuables he possessed, he is alleged to have provided “secret” information to the Egyptian government. “Secret” = “classified.” That’s disgusting, if true.

Senator Menendez may, therefore, have committed a crime (or crimes) under the Espionage Act. The other charges are serious enough -and nor has he yet been officially charged with espionage, but do the math -but this behavior is beyond the pale.

And his hubris, after being fortunate enough to obtain a mistrial on his last indictments to then continue to (allegedly) commit these crimes is shocking.

This is a man who looks and sounds ok but appears to be in need of serious assistance.

  2. Senator Menendez,
Rhetorically speaking, you are one of the most gifted speakers I have ever heard. You have a sharp mind and intelligence that served you and your constituents well for many years. You are to be commended for your legendary accomplishments as Union City Mayor. You were a highly respected member of the Democratic Leadership as our Representative in Congress. Thank you for your leadership in helping to pass the Zadroga Act for 9/11 Responders. You passionately stood up for the postal unions, and for Democracy, when President Trump threatened to have his politically appointed postmaster slow down mail processing durring the Pandemic Presidential Election of 2020.

Now you are (again) charged with accepting gifts -a quid pro quo, no less with a foreign government. You had nearly a half million dollars in cash at your home, some of it concealed in a garment that bears your name and title. You had three gold bars in your home valued in six figures. On one of your devices you googled a query on what such gold bars are worth. There is more here, to. You are well aware of the charges of your indictment and of the others in this very disturbing case. As the Patriarch of your family, as the Patriarch of Hudson County, and as our State’s Senior Senator, I implore you to mull over your predicament, discuss it with your family and closest true friends. You can, in fact you must become your own hero, and indeed our hero, again. William Wordsworth, the great English poet said that the child is father of the man. You must channel the Noble Child of your idealistic Youth, and take over the reins of what you have become in the last few years, much like the Senior Senator of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, portrayed brilliantly by Claude Reins, channeled his own Noble Child of his Youth to check the corrupt force he had become, and come to the defense of the idealistic Senator Jen Smith, played brilliantly by James Stewart. By doing so, Senator Menendez, you will have saved the better part of your dignity and integrity, and will have also insured that the seat you now hold will go to a deserving male of female that has New Jersey’s best interests at heart.

    • Bob has been a hooker-fueled BS artist for a long time. He’s been HudCo boss for almost as long. He of course is familiar with ballot stuffing and backed it in 2020 where the objective was to stuff manufactured ballots wherever and everywhere possible.

That Bob is a crook is not news. But he had a falling out with Barry Sotero and became enemy no. 1. They have been after him for years since. Now, they have him for hundreds of thousands in bribes which of course doesn’t even begin to touch the Big Guy, the king of kings of bribery, the Biden Crime Family led by Joe Bribem.

Stand strong (and be silent) HudCo.

  3. Congressman Rob Menendez,
You absolutely know the real score here. If you stand by your words that you “… strongly believe in (your father, Senator Menendez’s) integrity and his values…” then you should also resign your congressional seat that belongs to an HONEST Servant of the People. Knowing what I now know about your character, that you choose to stand with your corrupt father instead of justice and your constituents, who deserve an honest Representative, I am now sorry I ever voted for you.
