“Having lived in Bayonne almost all my life, we all heard the buzz of the ‘development renaissance’ and how it was supposed to be a good thing. All the new buildings and businesses were going to make Bayonne exciting and desirable again,” Senger said in a statement.

“Working in real estate, I saw how they did bring value to our community, but they also brought new problems and compounded old ones. And when residents asked for solutions to those problems, they got lip service or were ignored.”

The first time candidate cited pedestrian safety, senior housing, and walkability infrastructure across busy intersections, sustainable housing development, infrastructure, and equitable recreational marijuana baselines as benchmarks of his campaign.

“I’m running because the issues in our district can be solved with the right people working to solve them. We need a government that actively wants to fix the problems affecting everyone. Long time residents and our new neighbors should be able to enjoy the greatness that is Hudson County, at any age, ability, or income.”

Senger is part of a progressive movement that has decided to challenge county incumbents in recent weeks.

Those candidates are Eleana Little for county executive, Adrian Ghainda in the 2nd District, Mamta Singh in the 4th District, Ron Bautista in the 5th District (who announced in July), and Alex Valdez in the 9th District.

The primary election is on June 6th and petitions of nomination are due on March 27th.
