“Congratulations to Katie for moving to the General Election! Katie has spent her entire life proving and delivering on her dedication to creating a more affordable, sustainable, and resilient future. Katie has shown time and time again that she knows how to bring results home to her community,” First Ask Executive Director Caroline Welles said in a statement.
“In addition to her work as a policy expert, Katie’s work advocating for survivors of sexual assault brings hope to survivors everywhere. The First Ask is so proud of Katie and proud to continue to support her through November!”
She ran alongside Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, running as independents with the endorsement of Jersey City Ward E Councilman James Solomon, a mayoral candidate.
The Hudson County Democratic Organization’s candidates, Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca, along with Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, who ran with Assemblyman Jessica Ramirez on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s gubernatorial slate, all lost decisively.
Ramirez is in third place, with Bhalla leading her by 162 votes with 85.71 percent of the vote counted, according to the Hudson County Clerk’s Office.
Brennan and Bhalla declared victory late last night, as HCV first reported.
The First Ask is a 527 PAC dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide.
The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32 percent to 51 percent.
