The suspect in a New York City triple fatal stabbing this morning was arrested in Hoboken and Union City on theft and burglary charges in January, court documents show.

Ramon Rivera, 51, has been arrested and charged in three separate incidents in Manhattan this morning that initially left two men dead and a woman in critical condition before she succumbed to her injuries this evening, NBC New York reported.
Following an inquiry from HCV, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Caitlin Mota confirmed that Rivera was arrested on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River twice early this year.
He was indicted for a January 11th incident on Hoboken on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, theft by unlawful taking, and criminal mischief (property damage), the indictment shows.
Specifically, Rivera, also known as Ramon Rodriguez-Rivera, is accused of stealing over $500 worth of mason jars filled with CBD buds from The Green Room, located at 109 14th St. He faced the same charges for allegedly doing the same thing on January 17th.
He was also indicted for an incident that occurred four days later, on January 15th, for burglary and theft by unlawful taking, that indictment says.
Rivera allegedly broke into Hi Wireless, located at 4114 Bergenline Ave., and stole cell phones and other electronics valued at over $500.
Those cases were presented to a Hudson County grand jury on August 14th and the indictments were returned on August 21st.
“The Criminal Justice Reform Act provides an outline for when a defendant should be detained or released from custody pending prosecution. Given the nature of these offenses, the defendant was released on pretrial monitoring,” Mota said, also indicting the court issued bench warrants for failing to appear post indictment.
The New York Post, citing sources, first noted the New Jersey arrests for Rivera, also noting that he recently did a stint at Rikers Island for numerous NYC burglaries, along with a stay at Bellevue Hospital’s psych ward.
