While Stevens is well-equipped for remote learning and work, the decision has been made to provide students, faculty and staff with the opportunity to safely enjoy the snowy conditions and take a well-deserved break, according to Sara Klein, the vice president for student affairs.

“Sometimes, amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, there’s great wisdom in taking a step back and embracing the simplicity of a good old-fashioned snow day.”

Additionally, all offices will be closed and essential employees are required to report to work, though certain essential meetings will be held remotely.

Essential campus services such as dining halls and campus security will remain operational with adjusted hours.

For example, as of this writing, the Pierce Dining Hall and Pierce Cafe will still be open tomorrow from 8 a.m. through midnight.

A Nixle alert from the City of Hoboken says that a coastal flood advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. through 12 noon, with up to eight inches of snow and 40 mile per hour winds also possible.

Snow emergency routes will be enforced as early as 6 a.m. tomorrow and are dependent on snow accumulation. Vehicles parked on snow emergency routes, when the streets are snow covered, are subject to ticketing and towing,” the alert says.

“This is necessary to allow emergency vehicles to move throughout Hoboken for the safety and welfare of all residents.”

Furthermore, street sweeping is suspended, the Hop shuttle will run from 7 a.m. through 9 a.m. – with potential for afternoon hours depending on the weather – with garbage collection still expected to occur as scheduled.
