“So incredibly grateful for my good friend and an outstanding leader, Senator Vin Gopal! Thank you for your amazing support of this fundraiser for Senator Stack and me, and for always fighting for New Jersey and our communities. 💙,” Guy, also the Hudson County executive, wrote on Instagram this morning to accompany the event invitation.

The event will take place at the Spigola Restaurant & Bar in Hamilton Township tomorrow at 4 p.m., with suggested donations ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, according to a copy of the invitation.

Reached over the phone this afternoon, Gopal, whose district includes 19 municipalities in Monmouth County, said he always tries to support the causes of his Senate colleagues, particularly during the end-of-year holiday season.

He also noted that this event has been going strong since 2021.

“I’ve done this event for about five years for Brian’s civic and about two years ago I added Craig’s. I know they do a lot of good things, like Christmas gift giveaways, so I just wanted to be supportive. I try to get all of our senator colleagues to work together and collaborate and many of those of those programs in Union City are famous,” he told HCV.

“Brian actually inspired me and the civic work we do here: We do a food pantry, we just gave toys away to 700 kids, I think elected officials should use their office and their ability to help causes, charities, and nonprofit organizations.”

Gopal added that the event usually raises about $50,000 and it’s up to the individual donor to decide which civic organization they choose to support.
