“On June 5, 2018, please Vote Column “B” for Committe [sic] members. I am strongly endorsing Senator and Mayor Brian P. Stack for Hudson County Chairman. We deserve better for our residents. Thank you, Mayor Roque,” he wrote on Facebook last night.

Roque faces a stiff test next month when he fields a Democratic committee slate off the line after a court challenge didn’t go his way in April.

While the mayor can’t be expected to capture all 58 seats off the line, Stack will certainly provide a boost that few others can.

Meanwhile, the Hudson County Democratic Organization ticket in West New York has the support of U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8), Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, Freeholder Caridad Rodriguez (D-7), as well as Commissioner Cosmo Cirillo, Gabriel Rodriguez and Margarita Guzman.

That faction has already committed to ousting Roque in 2019, who recently made more enemies by backing Larry Wainstein to beat North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco, also the state Senator of the 32nd Legislative District, next year.

The West New York Democratic Committee will play a major role in who will be the next chair of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.

Stack is set to go head-to-head with Jersey City Board of Education Trustee Amy DeGise, County Executive Tom DeGise’s daughter, on June 12th.
