Campaign Spokesman Pablo Fonseca did not confirm or deny that Guzman would be filling in for Frias.

“I cannot comment at this time on who the fifth member of Mayor Roque’s re-election ticket will be, but an announcement will be forthcoming shortly,” he told Hudson County View over the phone.

Guzman is being honored as one of two “Dominicans of the Year” at the town’s annual Dominican Independence Day flag raising at town hall tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. Her addition to Roque’s ticket is expected to be announced then, sources said.

By this time tomorrow, Roque’s ticket will include Commissioners Gabriel Rodriguez and Cosmo Cirillo, Memorial High School teacher Susan Colacurcio and Guzman.

With that ticket, all of Roque’s running mates from 2011 have been replaced.

Frias deferred comment to Fonseca when contacted by Hudson County View, while Guzman could not be reached for comment.

  1. This is the kind of ticket that would make any smart and normal human leave WNY pronto !…Most people in WNY can’t afford bus fair… Can’t wait to move out next year…I guess John will have to say ” THE EYE OF THE COMMUNITY ” to himself when I leave. haha.. :))

  2. I find this to be contradictory. It seems Frias has done more in WNY this year to earn the distinction of Dominican of The Year over Guzman. Free Certificates of Merit are being handed out to bolster a less productive replacement.
